Introduction:
A gate is an entrance in a fence or wall. It is a way to get in or out. Properties are fenced with gates. While the enemy’s gates result in devastation and restrictions, God’s gates are for our protection and well-being. Destinies are imprisoned by evil gates, preventing them from realising their God-given potential. God is prepared to tear apart iron bars and shatter bronze gates. He said in Isaiah 45:2 that He would break through the iron bars of bronze doors. Samson once travelled to Gaza. He spent the night with a prostitute. As a result, his enemies encircled the location and waited for him at the city gate all night. In the middle of the night, Samson went out. Together with the two posts, he grabbed the city gate door and ripped it free. (Judges16:1-3).

In the spiritual world, gates stand for points of entry or authority over lands, lives, destinies, or circumstances. Spiritual obstacles known as “evil gates” impede advancement, postpone inventions, or give demons access to people’s lives. These gates, which impede the accomplishment of God’s promises, may be material, spiritual, or metaphorical. Evil spiritual gates function to restrict and oppress God’s people in the same way that physical gates control access. But we can enter the fullness of God’s blessings and escape these terrible walls thanks to the power of Jesus Christ.

Symbolism Of Gates

a). Gates as Points of Access

Gates represent authority over points of admission and departure. Gates are symbolic of the places in the spiritual world where authority, control, and decision-making are carried out. (Genesis 28:17).

b). Gates as Locations of Authority:

Important judgments and decisions were made at the gates of ancient cities. According to Proverbs 31:23, spiritual gates are places where spiritual powers govern or influence a person’s life or destiny.

c) The Gates of Heaven and Hell:

Jesus said that the Gates of Hell cannot prevail over the church (Matthew 16:18). This means that the enemy will do all it can to destroy the family of God, but with the authority in Jesus’ name, the church (family of God), triumphs.

– The Gates of Beggars.

-The Gates of Bondage.

– The Gates of Iron or Brass.

– The Gates of Death.

– The Gates of Delay.

– The Gates of Hell.

– The Gates of Righteousness.

– The Gates of Thanksgiving.

3. Types Of Evil Gates

a) The Gates of Bondage:

These gates ensnare people in recurring cycles of sin, addiction, or demonic persecution.  

b) Gates of Delay:

These gates delay breakthroughs. It obstructs or prevents prayers from being answered (Daniel 10:13).

c). Gates of Limitation:

These gates restrict the progress, success and advancement of people. They hinder people’s success in their personal lives, occupations, or missions (Psalm 107:16).

d). Gates of Death:

The Bible describes the “gates of death,” which stand for premature death or devastation (Job 38:17). To enjoy life in abundance, you must overcome these gates. When Peter was arrested, he was put in prison behind an iron gate. This gate was put there to make it harder for prisoners to escape.

4. Identification Of Evil Gates

a) Frequent Failures:

According to Psalm 107:16, persistent failure or delay at the brink of breakthroughs may be an indication of evil gates.

b) Unfulfilled destiny or stagnation:

An evil gate may be at work if someone’s success is mysteriously impeded or their destiny stays unfulfilled despite attempts (Isaiah 45:2).

c) Misfortune or Early Death:

A gate of death or destruction may be indicated by cycles of premature death or persistent tragedy in a family (Job 38:17). The Red Sea was an evil gate that attempted to prevent the children of Israel from leaving Egypt. Still, God opened it and created a path for them. (Exodus 14:21-22).

5. Breaking Through Evil Gates

a) The Power of the Name of Jesus:

According to Matthew 16:19, Jesus has given us the power to bind and loose on earth, meaning we can use His name to break through any evil gate.

b) Impassioned Declarations and Prayers:

Breaking through the barriers of evil requires persistent prayer. Gates can open on their own initiative through prayer, much like Peter’s deliverance in Acts 12:5–10.

c) Praises And Worship:

Because praise fosters God’s presence, it has the power to raise the gates and tear down strongholds (Psalm 24:7–10). The gates of Paul and Silas’ imprisonment were shaken open when they gave thanks to God (Acts 16:25–26). In Joshua 6, praise and following God’s instructions caused the walls of Jericho, a symbolic gate of evil, to fall.

6. Possessing The Gates Of Your Enemies

It is possible to break the yoke by anointing. God is the source of this anointing, which has the power to eliminate all demonic gates. God used Joshua to break down the walls of Jericho. After that, Joshua laid a curse on anyone who would create the walls and erect the gates.  Joshua 6:26, “Then Joshua made them take an oath at that time, saying, ‘Cursed before the Lord is the man who rises up and builds this city Jericho; with the loss of his firstborn he shall lay its foundation, and with the loss of his youngest son he shall set up its gates.” In 1 Kings 16:34, this came to pass. “In his days Hiel the Bethelite built Jericho; he laid its foundations with the loss of Abiram his firstborn and set up its gates with the loss of his youngest son Segub, according to the word of the Lord, which He spoke by Joshua the son of Nun.”

Although evil gates are genuine spiritual obstacles, the power of Jesus surpasses them. God has given us the power to pass through any gate, be it one of delay, slavery, restriction, or death. Every evil gate that stands in your way will be lifted by the power of prayer, faith and praise, allowing you to enter your destiny.

1. 1. I am grateful to you, Father, for giving me authority over every evil gate in my life.

2. In the name of Jesus, Lord, I give thanks for the covenant of favour and plenty that I have through Christ. Your Spirit’s power closes any bad covenant made on my behalf through evil gates.

3. In the name of Jesus, Father, let Your light shine upon my road and open any demonic gates that stand in my way of achieving divine growth and wealth.

4. In Jesus’ name, I announce that the power of divine favour has opened every wicked door that was previously closed to me.

5. In the name of Jesus, let the river of supernatural riches pour through the doors the enemy has shut on my life, home, and business.

In the name of Jesus, I pray that I will resist temptation. 1 Corinthians 10:13. “There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it.”
