Our whole being comes from God, and it is only in Him that we will find wholeness in life. It was through God that man became a living being. It implies man must depend on God. The man is not merely alive; he is more than that. Our Creator has given us the ability to do things as He does. Just as He created us out of existing material, He has also given us the ability to make things out of existing materials. We owe our unique creative skills to God.
“And the Lord God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into the nostrils the breath of life, and man became a living being” (Gen 2:7). This verse tells us so much about human beings. It tells us about the One Who made us, what He created us with, and how He made us. The first thing we see is that God made us. We did not make ourselves; neither did we just emerge from the ground. The Lord God formed man. The verse also shows us the different aspects of man. Part of us was created from the earth, and another was breathed into us —we became the result of those two actions.
God made man from the dust of the ground. The ground was an already existing material that God had created. Out of that already existing material, He formed us. The substance of man’s flesh and bones consists of the same elements as the soil and limestone that form the earth’s crust. Interestingly, God also made animals out of the same materials. That means there is an earthly nature of man that animals also share. That nature, by itself, does not make us unique. It merely gives us biological life.God gave man the breath of life, which means the source of this breath is God. It comes from within God, and it is that which gives life to us. The word “breath” also means inspiration. God is the source of our inspiration. Therefore, whatever man designs in this world are not out of his intelligence but come from God. Your creative abilities all come from God, so there is no need for anyone to boast; God is the source of it all.
