“I have taught you in the way of wisdom;
I have led you on right paths. Your steps will not be hindered when you walk, and when you run, you will not stumble. Take firm hold of instruction, do not let go; keep her, for she is your life” (Pro 4:11-13; emp added). Wisdom wants us to keep walking with her. When we leave its path, we can find ourselves walking in the direction of fools. Solomon was a classic example of one who started with wisdom but did not keep its ways. Walking in wisdom is a lifetime pursuit. It is something we must do every day of our life. We grow in it when we ask questions. Though Jesus spent His adult life teaching the Scriptures, it was revealed that He keenly asked questions in the Temple at the age of twelve. The Lord knew all things. However, He shows us by example that before we start making our views known, we must understand the opinions of others. In His adult ministry, He taught by responding to questions.
Don’t get tired of wisdom. Don’t let money or fame diminish its value. Many of us consider wealth and fame more desirable than wisdom. But what is the value of money in the hands of a person who lacks discretion? Without wisdom, our achievements are paraded as a mockery to the world. Wisdom pleads with us not to leave her.
Counsel is the ability to hear and discern good advice. Leaders receive different opinions from several quarters. It, however, takes wise counsel to determine which is the right or wrong way and, in some instances, which is the best way among several suitable options.
Sound wisdom.
It is not perverted. It is not the kind of wisdom to manipulate and control people. It is the one that makes comprehensive judgments.
Understanding
This is knowing the why’s and how’s of life. People who bring clarity during confusion and direction that yields results are regarded as leaders. Their opinions are respected and highly sought after.
Strength
It is the ability to get things done. A person’s wisdom is seen in what they can do and accomplish. Our wisdom manifests itself in our actions. When we operate in wisdom, we complete tasks and achieve things.
Justice.
Wisdom is manifested when we consistently do the right things. When we show fairness and equity in our dealings, we present ourselves as worthy of trust and leadership. In whatever leadership position God places, He expects us to walk in wisdom and exert influence. May the Lord help you to be a person of wisdom.
