‘In that day,’ says the Lord of hosts, ‘I will take you, Zerubbabel My servant, the son of Shealtiel,’ says the Lord, ‘and will make you like a signet ring; for I have chosen you,’ says the Lord of hosts.” (Hag 2: 23). Zerubbabel means born in Babylon or from Babylon. Others define it as that which is scattered in Babylon. He was born during the era when the people of God were taken into exile in Babylon. Those were the days of Nebuchadnezzar. Nebuchadnezzar was mighty and rich; he invaded Israel, destroyed their temple, and captured some of its young men.
Zerubbabel, a champion, is born amid pain and trouble; a game-changer is rising. Poverty, death, setback, and shame might have hit your family very hard, but you shall be that Zerubbabel to bring glory back into your home and environment.
“‘Who are you, O great mountain? Before Zerubbabel, you shall become a plain! And he shall bring forth the capstone with shouts of “Grace, grace to it!”’” (Zech 4: 7). Zerubbabel was part of the first group of Jews who returned from the Babylonian captivity in the first year of King Cyrus. He also laid the foundation of the second temple in Jerusalem soon after. Anytime you hear “Zerubbabel”, three anointings are being invoked:
- The anointing flattens mountains. The Zerubbabel anointing causes every mountain to serve as an obstacle to scatter; it becomes like a carpet for you to walk on.
- Anointing of double grace. Grace is that divine enablement that makes you do extraordinary things. You have the anointing to finish what you have started.
- Anoint to end well. Anytime you hear Zerubbabel, anointing for a perfect finishing is invoked. In life, it’s not about how you start but on which note you end.
