No man shall be able to stand against you; the Lord your God will put the dread of you and the fears of you upon all the land where you tread, just as He has said to you. (Deut 11: 25). Winner’s win: failures fail. When people see themselves as failures, they tend to fail. When they see themselves as winning, they tend to win. Israel’s effort to reclaim the land that God promised to their father Abraham, was a fierce one. That had to fight their way into the inheritance. In the process they had to come face to face with opposing forces. As Christians, we must also fight to possess every blessing that God has promised us through Jesus.
Our Lord suffered and redeemed us from the power of darkness into the Kingdom of light. However, we must contend for, and possess the blessings of our redemption. Here are two promises that God gave Israel. They are promises available to all believers in Christ.
I. No one can stand against you.
God wanted Israel to see themselves as winners. He told them, “No man shall be able to stand you.” That is a way of saying “Anyone who stands against you shall fall!”
II. I will put the fear of you on the land.
That means before the people of Israel got to a place, people would hear of them and be terrified. God’s glory on His children makes them weighty before people. Of course, that does not mean people will just fall flat and allow you to easily walk over them. That’s not how it plays out. The reality is that because people are scared of what God has made you, they will do everything to resist and fight you. They fight because they are afraid of you. That is why we should not allow resistance and battles to stop us from taking possession of the things that the Lord has given to us.
