Inspiration 65

A good man obtains favour from the Lord, but a man of evil devices he condemns ” ( Pro 12: 2). The Lord Jesus said, “No one is good except God alone” ( Lk 18: 19). Therefore,  whoever becomes good will have received goodness from God first. It is just like love; it is from God (1 Jn 4:7 ), so a person can only love after experiencing God’s love. Those who become good acquire the nature of God to obtain favour from Him. They get His approval or support that enables them to do or obtain what their effort could not have given them. For example,  it was the favour of God that caused Joseph to be put in charge of all the prisoners who were with him in prison (Gen 39: 21)

Again, God’s favour made the people of Israel receive gold, silver and clothing from Egypt upon request before they departed from Egypt (Ex 12:  35, 36). Mary, the mother of Jesus, became favoured of the Lord as she was privileged to be the one to bring forth God’s  Son ( Lk 1: 30, 31). Whereas a good man receives favour from the Lord, a man of evil devices receives condemnation from Him ( Pro 12: 2).

Since anything that does emanate from God doesn’t last, an evil person shall not be established by their wickedness,  but the root of the righteous will never be moved. One thing God values much among people is marriage.  Accordingly,  a man who finds a wife obtains favour from the Lord for having found a good thing (Pro 18: 22).

If only husbands knew wives were good things from God, how favoured they would become in the eyes of God. However,  several men do not find wives; they attach themselves to any women, marry them anyhow, and miss the favour meant for those searching for and finding wives. Goodness is part of the fruit of the Spirit ( Gal 5: 22), so a person must be in Christ to receive the Spirit of God, become good, and be favoured from the Lord.
