Inspiration 71

Great peace have those who love Your law, and nothing causes them to stumble. (Ps 119:165). Are you looking for peace? Do you feel trapped or troubled within? The Psalmist helps us to understand that great peace is the portion of those who love God. When we honour the Lord with our lives by lovingly obeying His Word, He rewards us with His peace.  There are lessons from the passage.

  1. Those who love God’s law enjoy great peace.

God’s promise of peace is for those who have chosen to love and live according to His Word. The more we stay in the written Word of God, the more peaceful we become. We are confronted with a world full of fear and unbelief each day.  There are many stories of strife, and calamity carried on the airwaves. The news we hear can make us lose our sense of peace and safety. That is why we should spend time in God’s Word. For every Word of fear that we hear in the world, we must have an assurance from God that overrules it. That is our defence.

  1. Those who love God’s law will not stumble.

When we develop a loving and obedient response to God’s laws, He orders our steps and guides our choices. As we allow the Lord to guide our decisions and actions, we sidestep the pitfalls of life.  God’s Word saves us from the consequences of hasty decisions and actions taken out of fear and panic. As you live to honour the Lord, may He cause you to experience His peace. May He order your steps and keep you from stumbling.
