Inspiration 58

All that Mary and Joseph had to do on the journey to Bethlehem was just to keep moving. That is also all that God wants you to do. He wants you to trust Him and keep moving. Don’t stop because of the pain and discomfort; keep moving in the strength of the Holy Spirit. Trust the Lord to get you to where you are going on time. God has appointed a place for you and knows when He has scheduled you to get there. You will have moments of anxiety along the journey, and sometimes it may seem like you will never make it to the place He has assigned for you. You will have moments of doubt when you feel like time is not on your side.

Be encouraged! God will get you to the appointed place right on time. “So it was, that while they were there, the days were completed for her to be delivered.” (Lk 2:6). There’s nothing more powerful than being in the right place at the right time. God synchronised Mary and Joseph’s movements and location with the time He had appointed Jesus to be born. He worked out His perfect will from when the angel announced the news to Zacharias and Mary. He also used a political decree to initiate a set of actions perfectly timed to Mary’s labour contractions. When they got to Bethlehem, it was time for Jesus to be born. Just think of all the things that could have gone wrong.

We serve a God of perfect timing. God’s timing is not merely the timing on our clock or calendar. His timing is that moment when all the things He is working on fit together. Mary and Joseph might have experienced many anxious moments on the journey to Bethlehem. They might have had times when they thought they couldn’t make it on time before the Baby arrived. Yet, in all their anxieties, the Lord of the universe had His hand in everything.

The good news is that God is never late. He will come through for you when His time is up. Keep moving and believe that He has a purpose for your life.

Scriptures.

But, beloved, do not forget this one thing, with the Lord one day is as a thousand years and a thousand years as one day. The Lord is not slack concerning His promise, as some count slackness, but is longsuffering toward us, not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance (2 Pet 3:8-9).

A man’s heart plans his way, but the Lord directs his steps (Pro 16:9).

To everything, there is a season, a time for every purpose under Heaven (Eccl 3:1).
