Do all things without complaining and disputing, that you may become blameless and harmless, children of God without fault in the midst of a crooked and perverse generation, among whom you shine as lights in the world, holding fast the word of life, so that I may rejoice in the day of Christ that I have not run in vain or labored in vain. (Phil 2:14-16). In life there are many things we may hold firmly to but shall let go for they cannot hold us back, as they are as unsteady in our hands. Our hands grow weary so they soon drop what grasp or what is grasped may last for a short time. It requires steady hands to keep our drooping hands from letting go and it is the Lord of our salvation, who is able to do so. (Is 35:3).The Lord Jesus spoke of His hand and the hand of His Father holding firmly the hands of His sheep and keeping them from perishing (Jn 10:28-29). The word of God is the life. It is able to keep alive all who hold fast to it. Solomon writes, Get wisdom! Get understanding! Do not forget, nor turn away from the words of my mouth. Do not forsake her, and she will preserve you; love her, and she will keep you.” (Pro 4:5,6,13). He adds, “Keep hold of instruction; do not let go ; guard her , for she is your life.” (Vs 13). Apostle Paul writes of Christ Jesus laying hold of those He saves, and they laying hold of Him (Phil 3:12), His Word that is life and spirit. It is the only thing that is all powerful and eternal to be able to keep a person alive forever in its grasp. Your grasp of anything shall become loose and fail; it is only the grasp of God’s Word, the word of life, that is ever strong and lasts forever.
