Jesus is worthy of everyone’s worship and praise, for He is God’s wisdom by which the whole world could live in freedom and peace and has the greatest message to save humanity from sin and death. He is the most powerful, loving, famous, patient, kindest, selfless, and humblest.
“The men of Nineveh will rise in the judgment with this generation and condemn it, for they repented at the preaching of Jonah; and indeed a greater than Jonah is here.” (Lk 11: 32). Before Jesus came to earth, there were some men that God had used to impact other people’s lives. The Lord named two such men, Solomon and Jonah. He said that Solomon’s wisdom was so great that the queen of the south travelled from the ends of the world to hear him speak. He also told of the people of Nineveh repenting at the preaching of Jonah. But He also said He was more exceptional in wisdom than Solomon and more excellent at preaching than Jonah. Indeed, Christ is better than every renowned man who has lived or shall live. Solomon’s wisdom was to enable him to rule over Israel. Still, he could not sustain his wisdom because he disobeyed God’s Word by marrying hundreds of foreign women, who led him into idolatry. As a result, he displeased the Lord and brought about the dismembering of Israel into two states.
When it comes to Jonah, he was an unwilling and apocalyptic preacher who went to Nineveh to pronounce impending destruction upon them in forty days. Yet, his simple but damning message caused the King and all the people of Nineveh to repent and fast for God’s mercy and pardon. Therefore, if any person living after Jesus’ ministry on earth fails to believe in Him and get saved, they deserve to be condemned after rising on Judgment Day, by even the risen queen of the south and the people of Nineveh.
