“Then He brought him outside and said, “Look now toward Heaven, and count the stars if you are able to number them.” And He said to him, “So shall your descendants be.” (Gen 15:5). Sometimes, when God wants to speak to us, He does so through nature, His creation. Abraham had received a promise from the Lord but was wavering in doubt and worry seemed justified. He had waited and held on to the Word of God for years, but it looked like God was not moving; something any believer has experienced before. God now decided to encourage Abraham one more time about His promise and made a profound analogy; He referenced Abraham’s yet unborn descendants to the innumerable stars, an unimaginable promise. If you are in a confused space like Abraham was what must you know and do is:
I. Make sure you are walking in the perfect will of God.
II. Remind and encourage yourself of who God is, what He has done and what He can do.
III. Know that God is right there with you and at your doorstep. Do not give up.
At such a point, you need to trust and obey, for there is no other way. Stay focused and fix your eyes on Jesus. Today, think about all the issues of your life that shake your faith and present it before God and He will answer you as He did for Abraham.
Scriptures.
For the vision is yet for an appointed time; but at the end it will speak, and it will not lie. Though it tarries, wait for it; because it will surely come, it will not tarry. (Hab 2:3).
Be kindly affectionate to one another with brotherly love, in honour giving preference to one another;not lagging in diligence, fervent in spirit, serving the Lord; rejoicing in hope, patient in tribulation, continuing steadfastly in prayer. (Rom 12:10-12).
Wait on the Lord; be of good courage, and He shall strengthen your heart; wait, I say, on the Lord! (Ps 27:14).
